Quote: So good to hear Barb. I posted a pic of the blue girl (still not named I am slow at it this year) on the other thread. I will see if they will work with me for more/better pics now that they are out with the "big kids" and not in the juvie yard. Everyone is doing great though, even with our heat. We have a full brother to JJ who is one of the final hatches of the year just starting to feather out. He looks to be feathering as slow and in the same manor as JJ did, we have 3 people looking at him so expecting him to sell quickly.
Hi everybody.... Sorry for not dropping in more often.. I have just been run ragged I tell you. The three white sebbies I got last yr turned out to be all boys... Soo Rosie is now Ross... lol oh well.. Thanks to Goose n Fig I was able to obtain a goose, Suzette. She and Garth hit it off from day one. BUT.. I didn't manage to hatch any of them successfullyI think I need to dedicate one bator to only goose eggs.
My sister sent me eggs... managed to hatch one of thoseThen she sent me a gosling
So now I have 4 whites and 2 with color. I will post pictures of them later...
I noticed that Suzette is smaller and tank like.. Her neck is shorter too. Than the known ganders in my flock.... Are these traits used to help determine gender? I have noticed the gosling Vivi sent me has similar type.... Soo would the chances of that one being a girl be a fair assessment??
Ganders are usually a bit wider, and a head taller than the geese. The boys are soprano and girls are bass.Ok so I guess it doesn't make a difference.

Body type and neck length varies greatly out there, so I wouldn't bet solely on that to determine sex.
I've never had a first year goose not lay eggs. You more than likely made the correct decision.Thank you Jean.
I had 2 geese together last season.. no eggs and no actually breeding was observed.. They did fight some in the pool. Soo figured they are both boys I placed one of them in a wonderful home last weekend. The gander is now known as Gus. His honk is deep..... did I make a mistake and let a goose go??I
