Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

Our 6 month old male and female pair playing with their new Halloween toys. We got them as pets and are toying with the idea of hatching some babies if it looks like mom and dad are good enough quality. Not sure but they keep me entertained!

Anybody in Ohio think they Will have goslings in the spring that are SQ curly breasted that i could show next fall. I had one last spring. But he died 2 days after we bought him. The breeder did not respond to calls or email after that. Pretty sure he died of pneumonia and I wish we were as experienced and knownledgable then as we are now or we could maybe have saved him. I miss him and need another gosling to film the hole. I want to start young because then they become more personal.

I'm hoping to get a few hatching eggs, or hatchlings. I know it's early but a friend of mine said her geese have sarted their winter laying already!!! I'm located near NYC and would be willing to drive 3 hours to pick up or meet up. We will be raising them for pet and show in 4-H

Anyone here have experience with leg injuries on these guys? I've been enjoying my pair so much since I got them - I'm not sure, I think maybe 5 or 6 months ago. But the male recently came down with a worsening limp, and according to the vet we're looking at a partial dislocation. Apparently very uncommon since geese have such tough legs, I've got a healthy suspicion my turkeys got a lucky kick in at some point. (That's why the brats are getting moved into their own pen this coming month... the other three males are good boys but Brooks will kick anything in a 2 foot radius). The vet says it will heal with 6 weeks cage rest, but he will limp, and he's gonna need "kid gloves" for pretty much the rest of his life. I'm rather concerned this includes mating. The pair is mostly pets but I had an interest in breeding them. I'm hopeful he'll be able to mount once this is all said and done but if anyone has any similar experiences I'd love to hear them...
