Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

We lost our best curly girl today. A bad storm moved through at bedtime and the goats got cauht up in the goose house and pummeled her to death. She was also completely without feathers on her entire back. Her mate got a little beat up too, but he looks like he'll survive, if not have a broken heart for some time. The goats are lucky I did not kill them. They are all for sale.

Anything that deliberately harms a goose here does not stay.

In other news- 3 babies that we hatched out here, that I thought were going to be buff or splash, are feathering in ????? It looks like lav laced with white? ????? I hope you guys can see it ok.

That wasn't the "gander" you got from me was it?????

Thx guys. I finally stopped crying long enough to be able to upload these pics today, and there are so many of her in there. She was my buddy since my other favorite goose is knee deep in babies.

Shellie- what color is your avatar baby expected to be? It does look very similar to mine.

Yes Jean, it was Ollie. Lucie got his butt kicked too, but not nearly as bad. I am heartbroken.
Those goats better sell quick or I will find a Greek restaurant and drop their butts off. (not kidding!)

Celtic-both that splash girl and your avatar baby are gorgeous! It is so much fun to have surprise colors!

Here are a few casual pics of my babies.

Here Twinkie is tugging on my daughter's shirt while she is trying to do her math. =}

Here is Tiger.

Here they are snoozing in my lap. aww!
Celtic-I was looking closer and see a little gray coming out on Twinkie, I do think she will be a splash. (yay!)

Here are Gurty (the toulouse), Goosey (my white gander), and the twins, Poppy and Sassy. They love to hang on this hill! I have already seen the twins chasing off chickens like they inherently know they are kings of the yard!

Here is Poppy. Nice wing feathers coming in. They just recently lost that last fuzz on their heads that looks like a funny mowhawk.

And here is Sassy. I love them all to pieces!

Daze, they look oh so spoiled! I have the twins sister, she must lost the fuzz too, and has slight back feather growth that flutters in the wind. Going to put her back with McGraw next year (curly grey gander) and the splash girl above.

So glad they are fitting in and it looks like the new goose is too. Nice looking gaggle of geese. :D

Celtic, thank you. I was really getting frustrated talking to the geese people around here that I know. They kept telling me to only get the white and that isn't what I wanted, but if I have a beautiful bird, or even one with a great personality, I want everyone to see it.

HappyMtn, I understand your feelings completely. Having a goose is like having a child. They really become part of the family. Hope you can find a home for the goats soon.

Plant, I would be happy to have you visit and meet the gang. We pasture the youngsters, juveniles and adults together most days so we can easily show them off. If you want to see lots of color I would wait awhile since the little ones are just starting to feather. Either is fine though. We are open on Saturdays for our egg customers.

I say buy the color you want, but know they won't compete against the white Sebastopols if shown. Eventually another color will be listed by the APA, but it will take time and getting people to get out there and show them so their is obvious interest.
