Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone else frustrated with the APA and their SOP after looking at the last few photos? Peaches' coloring is amazing, definitely worth being shown, but she doesn't qualify. I prefer colored, smooth Sebastopols, but I would never be able to show them. I am really torn about buying birds I love, but would never be able to show off. How do the rest of you feel about this?

DG she came CottageRose this last winter along with her mate McGraw a DH grey curly gander she had. They were part of her colored Sebastopol sell off. Very fortunate to have them both in our flock. Especially since their aren't many lilac around.

Plant the SOP allows other colors for other breeds over time. There is great hope that with time spent on breeding and refinement that other Sebastopol colors will be accepted to. Over seas they have curly, smooth, white and buffs all accepted. The APA will hopefully recognize other colors in the future, but they have to be out there and actively bred and shown (they CAN be shown in the all, other geese division). That is the only way to gain the attention n the APA for possible consideration to be included.

We plan to enter Peaches as well as several whites and Grey and maybe splash and buffs too this year in our state. If for nothing more than to get the colors out there in the eyes of others.

Inclusion in the APA SOP won't happen over night, but worth setting a goal for.

Plant we keep and use smooth as well as curly whites and colored Sebastopols. We also bred back to white and grey where necessary to improve the confirmation and type of the birds. Don't let the APA frustrate you.

Looking for female only pure white breeding quality goslings- must have at least one parent with curly chest, or hatching eggs from curly chested super fluffy birds. Will paypal, or can trade SQ Salmon Faverolles eggs from Dick Boulanger and Peter Merlins lines, and or Blue Slate Turkey eggs from Duane Urch Tom over a Canadian show line hen- both slate color so any of the 3 colors are possible. All birds are proven.

We lost our best curly girl today. A bad storm moved through at bedtime and the goats got cauht up in the goose house and pummeled her to death. She was also completely without feathers on her entire back. Her mate got a little beat up too, but he looks like he'll survive, if not have a broken heart for some time. The goats are lucky I did not kill them. They are all for sale.

Anything that deliberately harms a goose here does not stay.

In other news- 3 babies that we hatched out here, that I thought were going to be buff or splash, are feathering in ????? It looks like lav laced with white? ????? I hope you guys can see it ok.

Amy, so so sorry! Very pretty feathers coming in. Can see the ones on the left the best. Will be fun to see it completely feather out. We have one sorta similar, but older. Let me see if I can find a picture.

Sandi, good luck on your search. Breeding season has past for the most part. Eggs will impossible to find. Locating a goose only for sale will be hard too. Sales are usually straight run goslings, or single ganders or male/female pairs.

This time of the year shipping is very hard with the temps going up around the country.
