Hi..... I have four goslings and am spending plenty of time with them. They are super adorable.
my question is when they are fully matured do they need a house? I am not interested in eggs etc. we have a four acre pond and I am wondering can they free range.
we of course have the normal fox and raccoon.
I would just prefer the ease of allowing them to wander.

Beautiful babies!
Geese are just as susceptible to predators as any of the other backyard poultry. To keep them safe, I definitely recommend having a house with fencing around it for the night, then in the day time they can wander.
The house doesn't have to be very elaborate, sort of like a big dog house. They probably won't sleep in it much anyways but they will have that option in bad weather. The fencing around it should help keep predators away.

Thanks for that info I was leaning towards the floating house. Now I know better.

I have four birds.... how much room does each need for actual shelter? So if I use a large or xl dog house ( I have a few that my labs dont use) how manygeese per dog house?

thanks
