OK, I ordered 4 eggs from a Sebestopol breeder off of Ebay... She said they are all from white curly breasted sebastopols. One of my goslings is started to grow in greyish white feathers. Almost like a splash color. Does anyone have an explanation for this or could she have accidentally sent me another breed of goose????

There could be Saddleback or another gene mixed in with the Sebastopol. She should have told you that when you bought them.

The woman who just sold me my Prince Peter (6 week old Sebastopol), emailed me yesterday to tell me that she found a dark feather on her female. She even sent a picture of it.

She wasn't the breeder but she thought she should let me know.

I would contact the ebay seller and ask her.

I hate to tell you this but most white geese are likely to have some color in their first feathers, they usually don't have the color after the first molt. The reason I hate to tell you is because now you have to try to judge without any experience if you have normal or excessive color. By all means take it up with the breeder if possible but don't be too surprised if they tell you it is normal.

You might check out Holderread's website and see if he or she looks like any of the other color varieties of Sebs. Maybe the breeder has something other than white...

Some of my birds seem to carry the saddleback gene. As youngsters they have some grey flights, but by the time they are a year old most of that color has faded.... in my birds it seems to be more common in the females.
