I have no experience with this breed and don't know much about it, but would love to learn some from you Sebright owners. Come here to post photos and discuss your birds. Videos welcome, too! Hopefully this will be interesting and some new people can learn about the breed. Around May when I get to renovate a shed, HOPEFULLY, I can get some of these. They're real beautiful.

Thanks- Now, teach me something!

They are amazingly cute, but Seramas are cuter!

I think Sebrights are beautiful and I love that they are the only breed that has hen-feathered roos.

I thought about ordering some, but then I got 2 in an assortment! Those 2 little whirling dervishes wound ALL the other chicks up and fought with ANYTHING that would look at them! At 2 weeks old! So, I got rid of them before they were 3 weeks old.

Maybe try some from a breeder who breeds for temperament. Mine were hatchery stock. I have heard others who have had bad experiences.

IdealisticRoo, where did you get yours from? Mine came from Ideal and I couldn't be happier. I originally ordered 6 straight run chicks and ended up with 3 pullets and 3 cockerels. One cockerel was a character; he attacked a radio one time

and he would sit in the nest telling the girls where to lay. The other two were just as sweet. The hens had just as much attitude, but weren't aggressive. Though they did set the bigger girls in their place. Currently only have 2 left, 1 roo and hen. We sent the other two roosters to free range on a farm and unfortunately the other two hens died last winter. Love this breed and I wish I could have more. Hopefully I can hatch more from this pair in the spring

Mine came from Ideal too. There were cute little shavers, just jumping around all the time and winding the other chicks up! Based on the constancy of the sparring, I decided they were either both roos or insane hens!

I like the birds I have gotten from Ideal, never had a major problem with them.

Sorry definately not an expert here but I have had great experience with a gold lace from Townline Hatchery in MI. We just lost her to predation. But she would come when called cooed for cuddles. She was also a great producer 5 eggs/week. I know that is not typical. I am looking to get some breeder stock this year as well as a few from the same hatchery Henry was from. This one chicken made me a believer in the breed!!
