Hello, thought I would introduce my 12 week old Sebrights. I am new to chickens, so new in fact that when I went to buy my chicks I did not understand what straight run meant.

I have a 4X8 chicken tractor and had to buy a minimum of six. I didn't want them to be too crowded so I got the three sebrights because the man said they would stay small. I also got three Buff Brahmas because they said they were better layers. Luckily I got only one Ro. He has just now started getting a little aggressive. I am going to work with him the best I can. If after a while I can't tame him to be at least respectful I may re-home him. Not sure who will want him but I can't kill him so I will work hard to make he and I come to an understanding. He is a little bossy with the buffs, especially one of them but not too bad. The pullets are all sweet. I can pet them under their beaks. So far I am having a lot of fun with them all and look forward to eggs.

What do you all think of them?

They are too cute crowcreek! I bought 2 straight run chicks from my local feed store, and they both turned out to be roos! They're 7.5 weeks old, and I haven't got any crowing yet! Hoping I can go another week or two before they learn that they can!

Again, too cute!!!

my little guy started crowing at 8 weeks. he crows all day, LOL. Luckily we live in the country an he doesn't bother anyone. it sounded at first like someone was choking him but at 12 weeks he is getting much better at it!

Well, I probably have a week of quiet left!

I live in the country too, but my neighbors hate chickens! LOL! Too bad for them!

Haha!! I know that "choking" sound! Jack did that for weeks before he actually started sounding like he wasn't dying.

Haha, it is a pitiful sound. The first time
He did it I ran to see
What was wrong with one of them. Then I realized it was Bob learning to be a man!

I never did give their names, Bob, Polly and Pippin are The Sebrights and the Buffs are Edith, Gertrude and Olive.

crow, what is your sebright roo's temperment like? Is he good to the hens? Is he people friendly?[/quote

Well Bob is very protective e of all the hens. He favors the other Sebrights and gives the two big buffs there due respect. He is a little mean to one of the Buffs though. Not sure why. She was a late bloomer and is smaller than the other Buffs but still bigger than Bob.
He has begun to get a bit aggressive with me. He came up behind me and flogged me a
Few days ago. I turned on him and stomped at him and he backed off. He has tried to dance around me a couple times but then he will eat out of my hand. I am trying to catch him so I can carry him around a bit. I hope to get him respectful. He is only 12 - 13 weeks old. I hope he will be OK.

I bought a golden sebright hen a week ago at a Poultry swap that is apparently a year old. I know sebright's aren't very good layers but I haven't had an egg from her yet! Am I being impatient? What do you all think?
