Here's a couple pictures of one of my Silver Sebright roosters. I'm relatively new to the breed, just got two roosters as day olds a little less than a year ago and am loving them so far! They're such beautiful little birds, and pretty sweet too. I would really like to get into breeding them but am not entirely sure how to judge quality for these guys.

He looks pretty good to me! I'm picking up two golds and two silvers tomorrow! I don't know about the SOP on these guys but I just lost my little female she was so sweet. I had a lot of time and TLC in her...

Thanks! and oooh lucky! Sebrights are nearly impossible to find around here. There is one local hatchery that sells them but I placed my order too late this year and they were sold out of all except the Buff variety, which I am not too fond of, so chose another breed instead.

That is tempting! However, I am in Canada. I'm assuming eggs can't be shipped internationally, can they?

Okay, so I am getting a golden seabright chick in one week. It'll be three days old. Anything that I should keep an eye out for in terms of illness and gender? (I am also mainly posting this note so that it is added to my subscription list so that I don't forget about it) I am getting two other bantams at the same time and so I'm hoping it won't get bullied. If there any problem with (if it's a hen) putting it with my for standard chickens? Three of them are very polite polish (roo included) and a faverolles hen. The faverolles and one of the Polish are VERY old and so I don't think that they'll be mean. The other polish hen is looking like she may be part bantam cuz she's so small, but what about the roo? He's only one year old and very well mannered, but is it possible that he could severely damage her? He was raised with silkies and Cochin's(all turned out to be males and so they're now gone) and so he's seen and lived around bantams before, but could be kill her? Please help.

Polish hens are soposed to be small they are half the size of the males. I would keep an eye on her if your adding a standerds polish to bantam hens.

Yay so happy I found this thread!!! I just got 3 golden sebright chicks and I have one who rules the brooder lol I read they are not that people friendly and don't lay or go broody that often. How much of this is true? And while I'm not to concerned about them laying as I have big chickens for that my boys want to make them into pets can that be done? ( think parrot on the shoulder type)

Our Sebright is only 1 of 2 bantams in a flock of giant orpingtons & other LF. The bantams do fine & have bigger attitudes than any of our LF birds. Our Sebright is appropriately named "Trouble." She is quick to steal more than her fair share of treats & is very, very vocal if she feels offended &/or ignored. She chooses to sleep above the roost where the top hens sleep, & so feels she's queen of the coop. Our roos are about 10lbs. Because of the size difference, there's no way they could mate her & they'd have to catch her 1st. We were never planning on keeping the little Sebright, but now I can't imagine our flock without her.

I cannot guess how a medium-sized chicken will react to a little hen, but I can say that a Sebright will not quietly allow others to pick on her.
