sebright thread

All of our sebrights are confined to small pens and kept indoors out of sun and weather. even for breeding they are housed as trios in 30x30 inch coops. They are tough to raise so we gave up on keeping them outside much less allowing to go out even during the day.

I used to have sebrights. I was told different stories bout them, some good, and some not so good. I think that they are a bit on the temperamental side, but I think it also depends on the lines they come from. Some people will give up personality for looks and that just causes all sorts of problems down the line. But the ones I had were beautiful, the right size (I find people are trying to breed smaller then what APA recognizes now) and they were friendly as well. And man did those hens go broody! I had two hens and one roo, all golden, and those two hens hatched 26 chicks in one go all together! I defiantly enjoyed them when I had them

And here is one I just love... I love it when they get out and all (this isn't all of them, but ya know what I mean) lay down to sun at the same time. LOL... cracks me up everytime. I say outloud, "oh no. All the sebrights are dead." LOL

I couldn't be without my sebrights. Some of mine are going on 4 years old now. I find them to be very hardy once out of the brooder.
