Hello, Peeps! I am swamped at work so might not be able to get the poetry voting thread up as planned, but will as soon as I can. I stopped by TSC at lunchtime and picked up a magazine to read. It has a wonderful article on coop cleaning and a couple of other articles on grit in the diet and such. whats egg bombed? I seen you guys all mention it, when you ordered too many eggs? I thought that was called addiction? and someone pat me on the back, I unsubscribed from the swaps and auction threads!

Egg Bombed is when someone sends you all their extra eggs & you didn't order any. It's an easy way to "enable" a fellow chicken addict & a nice gift when your bators are empty. (Mine are never empty enough to get bombed & have them fit.

Fan forced incubators should be set at 99.5. Still air is different, so do not follow the Still Air guides for fan forced incubators. The internal temp for the eggs should be 99.5 to 99.9. 102.2 is 1.7 above the safe incubation zone and will either kill the eggs or make them hatch too soon.

That causes problems with the chicks.

Of course this all assumes that the thermometer is accurate. I use a Brinsea Spot check and it is very accurate.

102.2 was the maximum peak temperature. The average was about 101F. I will dial it down slowly then and hope for the best.

@ everyone : wish I could egg-bomb someone but no extra money. Looks like I may have to toss 32+ todays eggs out. the hubby has been outta work since Jan 13th of this year. Which is causing a lot of problems. And our only extra money is coming from whatever we can sell and the occasional WC check he gets which we are having to fight for. :/ its like when I have an abundance everyone isn't interested and when I have very few people want a lot! Lol!!

Ah.. well.. in that case I have semi- egg-bombed a few people (MelissaRose was one).. but they had a heads up I was sending free turkey eggs their way!

Mine knew it was coming too because she had to give me her address, but still a nice gift.
