**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

My turkeys are huge! They are already flying out of the brooder. Had to put the top on it last night. They've already graduated from the heat lamp (they're still indoors), thankfully.

One more group of birds to wean off the heatlamp, they're about a week behind the turkeys/tutors.

One of my quail went missing last night. I kept hearing someone in the brooder making lots of noise and ended finding her behind the brooder and very upset that it took me so long.

Mine keep flying out and running around the carpet. Then they jump in an out of the bins with the chicks. I keep going in and sorting who belongs where.

Quote: Sound like you need some lid too.
There are lids on both of the poult bins, they push them aside. Right now I have 2 of them, three bins with chicks and one with ducklings. My house is LOUD at the moment. And turkey/duck eggs hatching right now.
It's rather quiet here at the moment. I took a bunch to the swap over the weekend & while I was gone JJ moved my big brooder & the quail cage out of the basement & got the roof on & electric run for the big brooder so those babies are now outside. My big brooder in the "chick room" is currently empty & the little brooder has 3 ducklings & 2 chicks in it. Last week we built the waterfowl grow-out pen & got the chicks & ducks separated out there, I got the netting put over my run on the grow-out pen & it became the new layer coop since most of my grow-outs are over half grown already & the 19 meaties have temporarily taken up residence in the old coop until they get processed this week. Once they are done, I can move my younger grow outs & 2 BBW poults to the old coop so my nasty layer hens will quit picking on them. I want to move that pen further from the house 1st though. I just know once it gets hot it's going to stink no matter how much we clean it & it's right outside the bathroom window. The only critters left in the basement are the 3 duck hens I got at the swap that are quarantined in the stack cage until they can join their flocks, 2 bunnies waiting on their cage to be built & 5 assorted quail in my "infirmary" cage who have been beat up by some of the others & are recovering with the others who are also beat up. Even the Tennessee Reds made it outside this weekend & we got their 1st egg this morning.

I have rouens hatching now & assorted banties due this week so the quiet won't last long. Then the next batch is due in a staggered hatch from the 25th through the 3rd & will clear out all of 2 bators & part of the 3rd. Good thing there's another swap coming up the 14-15th of June.

Mine are all calls. I just moved the biggest two outside with the other ducklings/goslings. The three tiniest (one snowy looks like it will be dynamite tiny) and the two new hatchlings are still inside. Tomorrow all the chicks and poults will move to a shed pen. That will leave me with one bin of ducks and the new poults (I think the feedstore was looking for some).

I've been collecting a few from each hatch to add to my pens to bring in new bloodlines. Everything else goes to the swaps or gets sold locally ASAP. I'm tired of feeding all of the extras!!! At least we are in "Swap Season" now so I don't have to hold onto much for long any more.
