**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

PS I might have egg bombed someone today via USPS. Turkens, UNITE.

Wisher - Did I hear you saying you wanted ducks? Cause I have duck eggs... out the wazoo. This past weekend I egg bombed all my neighbors with chicken, duck and turkey eggs. I left the guy at the end of the road some eggs (he mistakenly left his house unlocked) and he actually walked here to ask what the heck they were...

One of my favorite quotes: I just realized... maybe it's maturity or the wisdom that comes with age, but the witch in Hansel and Gretel -- she's very misunderstood. I mean, the woman builds her dream house and these brats come along and start eating it.

Yep! Torturing old people, vandalizing and everyone sides with those snot nosed brats!

Egg bombing huh??? Have I mentioned I do love ducks! hehehe

Question ~ What turkey is best white meat turkey?

I have a friend who said she can get burbon reds but isn't positive of meat colors and they want white meat. I have scored inet and not sure where to look for what kind of breeds to tell her!

If she wants white meat like your "store" turkeys have, she'll have to get Broad Breasted Whites or Broad Breasted Bronze. They are not long lived and can barely, if at all, reproduce naturally. They are like the Cornish X meat birds, only turkeys. All Heritage breeds will disappoint people looking for breast meat. They have some but they are not "butterballs".

Cool Thanks!

Sally Sunshine, I have processed a few BR's and while they may not have as much breast meat on them as a production turkey, there was plenty on there for everyone who wanted it on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Granted, we weren't feeding a hoard of people but there was plenty there.

And what the heritage breeds lack in breast meat they more than make up for in flavor esp if they have been pastured........Yummmmm
