**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

Tell, the first Cinco de Mayo hatch was supposed to yield a bird perfect for Thanksgiving dinner. I had 13 turkeys...................I still have 13 turkeys. Six huge toms and seven lovely hens. Those birds eat more than anything. I just can't bring myself to "process" them, I had even bought a GIANT pot for scalding. Now all these eggs I've been saving (RP & Slate), these will be easier since I assume they are just as likely to be crosses.

You are too cute. Yes... I've passed that milestone. I know I look good for my age. It's the stress-free lifestyle I lead.

In fact yesterday I had a police officer tell me that he wouldn't want my job no matter what.

He would rather go to a job where he has the possibility of being shot at (just for being a police officer) than be me? Oy.

We'll see how that works out for me. I told DH my RP pair is my keeper pair but their offspring will be dinner. I'll let you know this time next year....

We just processed one of our Bourbon Red Toms on Wed to have for Easter dinner

If it makes you feel any better I still have my original turkeys from last year, too.

We just haven't gotten around to asking them to dinner.

Mine from last year didn't get eaten either....just live on a farm instead of here at NotAFarm!

A retired teacher who has a hobby farm got my pair of Bourbon Reds. I saw him the other day and he said they are like dogs that go to greet anyone who drives up! He said they work better than dogs at keeping strangers inside their cars until he goes out to see who it is!

Guard turkeys...who knew!

I still have my midget white pair I kept. The person that I sold my pair of BR to, also still has them. I have 7 poults and a few more pips in the incubator right now that say mine our finally going to head to the freezer.
