**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

I just skipped over 100 posts. Been working on the new coop since Thursday & the juveniles are now all outside except the 22 still in quarantine I got 2 weeks ago. I still have 2 big brooders going & 3 cages for quarantine, but my basement is clearing out slowly but surely.

Welcome back!

nope.. even get leftovers!

Broody question... she sat for two days now, can I add cold eggs to her or should I bator them until warm and give them?

Sally, room temp eggs are fine... Just try not to give her chills from refrigerated ones (those should be brought to room temp for a good 12 hours first)

WOW! A day away from the computer & a hundred posts to catch up on....maybe later

I disagree. I was attacked by geese when I was small & am wary of them to this day. My neighbor got some & I won't go anywhere near them. Plus their honking drives me nuts.
It's funny tho, cuz he has a couple peafowl & they are vocalizing all thru the night lately. Their sound doesn't bother me. Weird.

My cat has had allergy symptoms since I found a baby chook & brought him in the house last Feb. Now all the chooks are out & she still snuffles and snorts. One Doc said to put her on Chlor-Trimetron to dry her up. Didn't work. Now she has a huge growth between her eyes that distorts her face & curls back her eyelid. I took her to the vet & he lanced it & drained it, but that was only dealing with that infection...not the allergy. This cat has never been sick. I'm soooo upset.

Sorry...I know this board is not the right place for that post. Just trying to explain why I'm not on much lately.
That's the beauty of this hatchathon...anything goes! I'm sorry your kitty is off-kilter. I'm hoping your vet gave her some antibiotic or the infection will recur.

Don't pull the ones you question...let them go unless they weep or stink!

I am new to BYC and Incubating but hatched 1 setting of chicks so far this spring, and it just happens I set 12 turkey eggs last week, evening of the 4th. was not aware of the hatchalong at that time but here I am anyway. We will see what happens. Any hints for a biginner.

There's an Incubation Cheat Sheet in my signature. Happy to have you!!

Uh, oh, Looks like our little hatchathon got a link in the BYC newsletter.

Eek! I'm over here wearing the lampshade if anyone needs me...

All you candlers.................did you set early? Today is only day 3 for me...............

I might look at them this weekend...........

Who do you think you're fooling...we know you'll candle with us...early. None of our straightjackets are on tightly enough, apparently.

:fl :fl :fl :fl :fl :fl :fl :fl :fl I'm praying my little blue Cochin twins just went broody on me, they always go broody together and between the two of them can manage 24 eggs. Last year they went broody right during the easter hatch-a-long and were gifted with all 32 babies and they didn't lose one :woot I am so hoping they are broody right now cause I have about 20 eggs I couldn't fit in the bator and I was gonna sell them but I'd love to hatch them myself :fl :fl :fl :fl :fl :fl

A poem to encourage them:

Aww Suede and Blue
Go broody for me won't you?
they never want just one egg or two,
they always want quite a few.
Good little mommas are they,
to sit there and stay.
and hopefully, very soon,
will have babies out the wazoo!!!

ssshhh ron you are going to completely scare the new member. You ease them into the straightjacket so it feels like a nice hug!

No broodies here. Last broodie I had hatched 9 the week of Halloween. I could use more bator space
