I have had them drown after pip simply because the air was too moist & they couldn't breathe. This was back when I 1st started & listened to everyone who said humidity needed to be like 80% for hatch. I lost a LOT of chicks who simply suffocated from all the moisture in the air. So whether you call that drowning or suffocating it's still high humidity during hatch that causes it.
If amber goo came out of the pip and the chicks had amber sticky stuff on them then they drowned form the liquid in the egg.

I have never had one drown from humidity--It is always from the liquid in the egg. That is caused by unstable temps during incubation and sometimes by too high of humidity during the first 18 days.

Another cause of pipping and dying is shipping stress.

You all are cracking me up

I worked hard to find those eggs, now I have to go to the neighbors house daily and collect eggs under the pokey pine. I set 7 on Sunday and have 4 of 6 I got from Mike developing, for this hatch.

It is resting fine and it is going inside it just looks like a small zit now, not trailing behind, actually looks like it will absorb it fine, now to decide on blue slate or bourbon red as a mate, since that is all Meyer had avaviable

This was asked on another thread and I think its a pretty cool idea to know why others chose their sign on names!

Anyone want to share how you came up with your screen name?

SALLY SUNSHINE:
I worked outside many years as Horticulturist, my hair was sun bleached and I was the happiest healthiest girl on the earth as I tended to the land and my nickname grew as Sunshine or Sunny. So it stuck for computer alias ever since! I have since turned to poo on the outside, but its still me on the inside.

But one day I will be healthy again, I have to keep kicking sick's butt until then!

Ooo, I almost missed this post!

My screen name came about because I am a mythology geek. I love all sorts of myths from all around the world (even minored in Classics in college).

Pele is particular is one of my favorite goddesses. Her average day pretty much consists of :

Wake up, admire self, get randomly angry at a village, destroy village in a fit pique, be soothed by gifts, notice an attractive young warrior, marry attractive young warrior on the spot, enjoy a super awesome wedding party, then disappear into the night.

I've used her name in various screen names for years. Most recently though, everyone keeps asking me if I like soccer because of the South American player who uses that name :(. I was like "whut?" Much like a turkey poult, apparently :p.

My screen name came about from several failed attempts at choosing one. I wanted Curlycue (I have curly hair) taken, curlySue too cutesy and reminded me of the movie, CurlyQ, nah...but that reminded me of the star trek character so maybe I could get a Q in there. Quirky? Ya that suited me just fine and my name is Susan. Aha Quirkysue. Nobody calls me Sue but it had a ring to it so its been mine for probably 12 yrs.
