WHO knows what breed Chooks has???? She HENN nabbed me with these! Adding DH has surgery scheduled for tomorrow so I added them sooner praying they hatch before hand! LUCK pure LUCK!! Now if the buttons would get here I would be set!!!

Looks like Midget White, Slate & Bronze to me Sally.

Sally, baby turkeys are called "poults". They can eat medicated, and right now I have a formerly broody hen raising 3 chicks and 2 poults, so I'm feeding them all gamebird starter. It is 28% protein so not ideal for the chicks but I think they'll be fine in the short term.

The little yellow one is a Royal Palm. Not sure what the others are.

I don't think its so much that poults are more stupid than chicks but that they have different needs. Watching my mixed brood, I noticed that when she wanted them to eat, she called them all over and showed them where the food was. The chicks immediately copied her, pecking in the same area and found food. However the poults just observed, looking around, waiting for dinner to be served. Eventually the Mama Hen tried getting food in her beak and lowering her head to the poults and that is what they were waiting for - to be fed. They ate the food off her beak for the first few days, and then when their appetites really took over, they started eating directly out of the bowl. They still prefer eating off her beak though and I'm thankful that she understood that is what they needed.
I haven't seen a royal palm poult yet so could be that too.

I think I may have two or three ducklings zippING !!!! Is this possible? They only pipped somewhere between 18 and 20 hours ago!?!? And what's with the early hatch? This is only day 25! Forced air bator is set at 100.0* Think I might should lower it half a degree for the next hatch?

Sometimes they are just early. I had 3 sets all due the same time that 1 set was 2 days early, 1 was on time & 1 was 2 days late.

100 is a little high if you have circulated air. I would drop it to 99.5 for the next hatch. Congrats on the ducklings!!!

I think Sally said she got the eggs from Chooks and I know Chooks has RP's. I don't believe she has MW's but I could be wrong.

:/  Well, dad is talking about getting another duck to "replace" Ducky. Mal is wandering around looking lost without her and he refused to eat this morning. I've never seen a duck depressed, but Mal has always had another duck around. I went to the feed store with dad this morning, but all they had were day old chicks, some Bronze turkey poults, and the cornish cross chicks that have been there for the past 4 weeks. I haven't found anything on craigslist either.
Awww, wish I were closer - I'd set you up.

Thanks, y'all!

Raz, it's too bad I am not closer. I have a rescued Peking that I am not sure I can keep. My rule is no special needs birds and even though her walk is much improved from when I brought her home she still seems to have some issues. She is just super sweet and snuggly though.

The weather here is supposed to warm up just a bit this weekend, so I am hoping that I can finish cleaning out and repairing the shed to house them as well as putting up their fence. I think it should be sufficient and has a ground level door so she won't need to use a ramp to get in and out. I think this will be best. Originally I was planning to keep them in the overflow section of the chicken coop that I open up for cold winter days when it is too cold for the chickens outside... I like that idea because there is a low spot nearby that I could work into a natural looking pond, but that side of the coop has quite a big step to get outside and I have not been able to get her to use a ramp yet. I have been carrying her in and out.

I just moved my turkey eggs from the cabinet incubator to the hatchers....................I have six pips already. These poults are in a hurry, all 41 of them

If they all hatch, I might be running a poult sale, LOL

There are also two call duck eggs in there

They would be my first from my ducks
