I posted last night about a dying chick staying up to 2 AM for help and nobody responded. She died the next morning. Another chick, same breed is refusing to drink after beak is dipped, won’t eat, can’t stand because she’s too , and just sits and sleeps. Help please.

This is how she lays, just like she’s dead or dying.

She just lays limp in my hand.

So sorry. I am afraid I don’t know enough to help. My sense from other posts is that being too hot can be a killer. Do you know the temperature and do they have somewhere cooler to go?
I have 1 week olds right now with a heat plate in a room that is 73 degrees and it is striking they only rarely go under the plate to warm up.

It definitely isn’t two hot, the other two chicks act completely normal and cycle throughout the brooder temperature range, the other chicks now dead wanted to stay in the heat or they start getting loud until they couldn’t even make any noise.

Please get some photos without the red light, the chicks, their poop and of the whole brooder.

What is the temperature of your brooder.

Getting loud, they very likely too hot. Do you see them eating/drinking? What do you feed?
Are the other chicks that are moving about the same breed?

Both Cochins are dead, the other two (cuckoo maran and golden laced Wyandotte) are alive, healthy, and very active. It’s not a heat issue, the chicks tried to inch over directly under the heat. When I went to hold them, they’d start getting vocal and shivering after ling periods of time. None of the chicks had the strength to stand up. I tried dipping their beaks in water and they just wouldn’t drink it. I offered them food but they wouldn’t touch it. The setup is the same I had it last year and all 7 chicks I raised in the brooder are alive and healthy today. I’m at work now, but I’ll send brooder pictures after I’m home.

I'm sorry to hear she died.
Since both were the same breed, could have been failure to thrive or a bad hatch. Some are more sensitive to temp than others as well, so it's a great idea to observe chick's behavior and adjust accordingly.

On your other thread you mentioned pasty butt, but thought the vent was still clogged. A clogged vent can kill a chick quickly, so if you have another that gets pasty butt, then tending to it is a good idea. Some causes of pasty butt is being too hot or possibly too cold, dehydration, etc.

Glad to hear the others are doing good though.

Unfortunately, posting really late at night you may not get any replies until the next day. Not everyone is on at that time.
