second egg gitters?

Be patient and try not to panic.
It can take up to a month or so for the new egg machine to get totally tuned up.

I was thiking this behavior might produce a soft shelled egg.
They can act like that when a softie is coming down the pike.
First time I saw it happen I thought the bird was gonna die,
but I just waited and watched for about an hour,
and she passed the softie on the ground and was back to normal chickeny things.

Did she lay again today?

don't know only got 2 eggs but today i needed a nap and when i woke up only 2 eggs. shes acting normal today, all 3 are being really good today. they are not running from me anymore too. they all actually came up to me when cleaning out the coop from poop lol.
they never do that. they usualy hide in the back of the coop where im cant reach them.it seems one of them is pooping alot " not the same chicken" but she usualy sits on 1 roost bar. none of the other chickens sit there because shes boss and gets that spot and today there was huge amounts of poop. looked like 10 chickens worth of poop. maybe she was having an issue laying because constipated or? i don't know but they all seem ok.

there is one other issue that i don't think is bad but is annoying.
my chickens don't seem to want to drink water out of their water feeder. only if i burry a bowl in the ground and make it look like its a pond will they drink water.
their water feeder is the same as their food feeder maybe they thing its food and don't want to over eat? who knows. burying the bowl seems to help but having the normal feeder they wont drink from it.

I use 2 of these, when you turn the bottom upside down it becomes a water feeder.

My chickens became friendlier once they started laying eggs. One of my most skittish chicks is now the first to run up and visit.

As far as pooping, once they start laying, their poops get so much bigger! I noticed that, too.

Does your waterer hang, or just sit on the ground? It helps if it is elevated, so it you haven't tried that, maybe put a brick or something under it. Mine using a waterer that looks similar but it hangs at about the level of their back. They dip their beaks in it easily. That said, mine always go for a big tub of water, if given the opportunity. Lol

well it don't have a way to hang it and it is elevated to pecking hight with a wooden box under it so i don't know why they don't like it. maybe they want it closer to the ground? I'll try that today.

Who knows what they want? I think mine don't even know what they want most of the time. :gig
