Second time around - Ameraucana eggs !

Yes, it has been driving me bananas...I finally have the temp under control now...it sits now between 98 and 100 depending on the amount of water in the cup in my rigged up bator, haha...I hope I have some hatchlings, my first time. I would be happy if even one hatched!

Since you are using a basket and don't have a fan, you want your temps at around 101, I think!

Day 5, 16 more days to go!

I have sad news today, I had dh pick up a new thermometer for me and when I stuck it in there, it read 112 degrees. I am sure that I fried whatever may have been growing. I opened up an egg to see what it may look like and there was some blood spots. I just turned the temp down and will leave it until day 10 when I will candle to see what may be happening. This may explain why all my batches have failed this year and I thought it was due to fertility issues.

I'm sorry for the high temp, but lift your heart, there are some threads about hatchlings surviving high temps on the board. If nothing comes of this incubation at least you'll be better prepared for the next.

Thanks guys, I will continue to hope and see what comes of it. Most of these eggs are the ones I won so I am really hoping.

I candled my eggs last night and couldn't really tell anything because of their shell color. I know there is a large black area inside each egg. Their air space is getting larger and a few of them are "loose" inside but the others are kind of stagnant. I hope I have a few coming but they were waiting one week for their new IncuCube to arrive for testing and that never happened. Darn it!!

If this dosen't work, I'm hoping for some Delaware eggs and of course, still looking for White Houdan eggs -- those are very difficult to find!

How is everybody else doing with candling?
