Second try at hatching quails! (This time I'm sharing the whole experience with you!)

I took it out once I checked the temperature, it's around 35.5°C. also yeah I took some little rocks from the garden to put in the water dish the papers towel I had set up weren't enough for them to properly walk on, so I added some hay and now they are all going around pecking and drinking happily, so the temperature seems good now going back to the ones still in the incubator, one has been unzipping for a while now but still no signs of trying to push "the lid" open, another one made a hole and is now putting his beak out, hesh been there for 6 hours now but I think he's just preparing to unzip the other eggs have an external pip and are rocking a bit, but no signs of unzipping yet. Maybe they'll get out tonight

three more chicks just hatched , another has been unzipping of 3 hours now, he is still actively trying to get out but he seems to be stuck halfway through. how many hours should i wait before helping him?

update on this, another chick rolled the egg over and it has now began unzipping again, guess he just fell asleep in there ahah

i also have another question, is it fine to keep the brooder near a group of adult birds? i have their cage setup beside the brooder since i have nowhere else to put them since i have too many predators in my house (dogs, cats etc etc ), i was planning to move them out to their new coop i built all together when these chicks will become adults too

I do not believe in helping quail out of the egg because the one that I helped ended up dying anyways. So I'm the wrong person to ask about helping.

sure it's fine to keep them next to the adults as long as they cannot get to them.

yeah, they are in completely different cages , last time i rescued one egg and she is now a happy girl laying eggs, but i'll just keep calm and see how it goes. btw, we are now at 4 chicks inside the bator and more coming!

couldn't hold it anymore and i helped the egg. he came out on his own and he was helping me while i was unzipping the egg for him. the egg was very small, and the chick is too weak and small to stand or do anything, i think i'll have to cull him unfortunately. Good news is most of the remaining eggs are rocking!

Oh wow he might actually be an odd defying bird he managed to stand up and now he's wandering around pecking at things. I believe he isn't underdeveloped or anything but there wasn't enough room/yolk for him to grow full-size. I'll transfer the second batch of hatchlings to the brooder in 3-4 hours and then we'll see what will happen. Also all the chicks seem to be pharaoh, but one just hatched and he is completely dark with golden eyelashes... Maybe a tibetan??? I'm excited!!!

Well, the last bird just hatched, the other two eggs were infertile and I somehow overlooked them haha, 3 needed help to hatch (one was undersized but he's doing great now, the other two were disoriented because of their brothers rolling them) so, not taking into account infertile eggs I got a 100% hatch rate, a HUGE improvement from my last batch(10%) ahaha, thanks everyone for the help you gave me, you've been extremely helpful and I really appreciate it. If you want, you can choose the name of the only dark coloured chick!
