Sorry everyone - I was on a business trip with no access or time then was again away on our church retreat with no internet.

Just a quick update while here at work. I have had no luck in getting my hands around a couple of little chicks. I was hoping and praying that the farm in eastern PA would have a couple that I could get over the weekend but no such luck.

Momma hen seems to be strong and holding up well.

I have been in contact with 19hhbelgian today. She has a number of chicks that I am looking at getting. The chicks are about 2-4 weeks old. Do you think Momma will mind chicks that they are a little older?

I don't think she'll mind, but I wonder if they will stay with her and follow her like they would if they were younger. I hope someone with more experience dealing with older chicks will chime in.

Hi,
In the past I have contacted battery Farms. They always have day old sexed chicks, usually for sale cheap (pardon the pun). And the plus side is that you are saving those chicks from a life of hell.
