sectioned off part of coop for new chicks

    i made a 4ft wide by 6 ft long pen by 6ft high. will this be enough room for 17 chicks they will be in it at 6-8 weeks old. and how long should i keep them seperated from the adult flock.

    Quote:It will be ok for a while but very soon they need more space right now you have only 6x4=24 sq feet and that's small for 17 chicks when they get 5to6 weeks old, and you can put them with the big hens when they can stand for themselves and keep in mind tat you still need to feed them the starter grower till the are about 18 weeks old and it is not easy to keep them away from the other flock feed if thy get mixed.
