SEED SWAP!! Come on ride the train, the seed train..............

Ok, Now I see that the train has stoppped. Good time to ask a question or two.

I just went to Jungs garden center here in WI and got tons of seeds. I swore I wasn't going to do it !! Well anyway, I'm sure I'll have extra seeds.

So, I read the rules and it says a mininum of 6. That means seed right. Now I know you wouldn't send just 6 radish seeds !!! LOL so am I understanding this correctly.
So if I have say 6 pumpkins seeds extra, I would offer those.
What about smaller seeds. What is the min-max most people send.
Plus I didn't see it in the rules. Do you have to send seeds packaged for 2012, which of course I have since I justr bought them.

If you have seeds left over from last year can you offer those as long as you list that they are from 2011 ?

Sorry for all the questions. I just want to make sure my offers are good to go before I offer them.

Thanks

You can send as many seeds as you want. I sometimes send whole packs, half packs or a ton of tinys. The fresher the seeds the better but 2-3 year old seeds also usually germinate just fine.
Welcome to the swapping page.

To answer some of the questions this is what I think, correct me anyone if I'm not right. About the 6 seeds you're correct, pumpkin, squash ect. As for smaller seeds I think its a judgement thing, I look at it this way, what would I like to receive. And I believe from 2011 is okay if saved seeds and some of the ones I bought last year state good for 2012. Hope this helps you some. This is a cool train. I've swapped about three times already.

I am going out of town so if the offer isn't taken by tomorrow, I will fill the request when I return at the end of the week.

Just want to let everyone know I recieved an empty envelope today.
The bottom was tore up and the seeds have been spread across the US in the mail system.LOL
The post master let me know once that if I was gonna send seeds that I might want to tape the packet to the top of the inside of the envelope.
The mail sorter grabs the bottom of the envelope and runs it through rollers.
So if the seeds are in the bottom of the envelope they will get smashed or jam up the machine.
Iam thinking that maybe what happened here in this case. The envelope is mutilated.
