Seeking input on breed choice

Leghorns are flighty, but not so cuddly. Great advice above. Maybe try a few breeds and see what suits you best?

wow, what a good brave rooster; so sad that he died. I'm making a list of all of your suggestions and will refer to it in seeing what breeds are locally available. I feel so appreciative of the thoughtfulness and helpfulness here

not sure if commenting at this late date will revive this, but I've just gotten back to my "get chickens" project and I'm wondering what people here think about bantam breeds. They strike me as generally better fliers, so perhaps would be more predator proof?
