I just had one of my hens hatch 4 chicks. I was wondering if it is best to leave them together or if it is ok to put the chicks with the rest of the chicks I have? Some advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Edit: if I keep them together I would need to move them to a different cage due to the male. Could I put her and the chicks with 3 yearling hens? Or would the hens try to hurt them? So many questions turning in my head that it is about ready to blow up!

you could leave them together but make sure the peachicks know where the feed is along with the water too. if they have trouble then i would keep them with the other peas if they arent that much older.

Thanks for the info. I have a waterer in there that they can't drown in. I might be able to sell the last of my yearlings tonight or tomorrow which would open up a pen for them. The hen has a problem with stepping on them, is that normal?

We all know peafowl and peachicks are not immune to the diseases chickens has. Their not my peachicks but as soon as they hatched they would have been seperated away from all chicks and chickens,,very good way to possibly lose one or all of them by letting them run with chickens or on ground chickens has been eating-grazing-pooping on.

He's right,.. I'm someone that lost two peachicks then spent the next year keeping the remaining 6 alive. Many trips to the vets, necropsies, medications later, I have it under control, but all could have been avoided if I had raised them off the ground, away from poop and earthworms.
