hello, it appears my chick is having some trouble hatching, however, it only started this evening. The membrane I can see is growing yellow and leathery, do I need to moisten it? My humidity is hovering around 69 -70 any advice would be appreciated! Also, he's not really zipping like I've seen in videos

How long ago did the little one pip through the shell? I found they sometimes take their sweet time to hatch after pipping (up to 18 hours) and the membrane can become discoloured in that time. I wouldn't worry unless it dries out too much and sticks to the chick, but the humidity is very good in there, so it should be o.k. for moisture.

Hi, I ended up zipping the shell (not the membrane) at about five, since it still wasn't getting anywhere, but when it hatched after that, I think I discovered the issue. I think I might have a case of wry neck on my hands, she will tip her head backwards and sometimes fall over. So now the dilemma is, how can I treat it? Is there anything I can get from the local farm store or drug store that someone can recommend?

It sounds like wry neck or "star gazing". Poultry Nutri-drench, poly vi sol, or Poultry Cell vitamins can treat it. I'm not sure about the other two's dosage, but if you use poly vi sol, a drop or two twice a day should do the trick. Make sure whichever supplement you use has no added iron!

As far as Nutri-Drench, I use it full strength, try to get 4-5 drops down every 3-4 hours. Follow the dosing with a couple of drops of plain water. Straight ND is pretty harsh. HTH

Thanks guys! I'm going to wait a little bit, seeing as he's not doing it as frequently, hoping it's just a fluke. I'm gonna look around and see if I can find some of the medicines you guys suggested, thanks for all your help!

Your welcome. If I were you, I wouldn't wait. If you catch it early, the better the chances are for a full recovery!
If you have more questions, just ask, more than happy to help you! :) Good Luck!

Looks like It was just a fluke, she's not displaying symptoms at all and is eating by herself and running around, thanks for all the help, I'll be sure to pick up some stuff for wry neck in case I start having problems
