I have a lavender D'Uccle rooster that came with this summer's batch of chicks as my "free exotic chick". He's very bold and brave, quite a character for a seven week chick. I'm not sure if he'll be overly agressive, he has been a bit of a bully to the other chicks but seems to be taking on a leader position now that they're free ranging. He sure is pretty.
I love my OEGBs and don't think I'll ever switch to a different breed. But, I'm tempted to get a couple of d'Uccle hens to go with my rooster, just to see how I like them. I'm also looking at the Malaysian Seryamas. Boy, aren't they cute? Unfortunately, I'm in the city, and can only keep so many chickens. Zoo, for now, I'll probably stick to my sweet little OEGBs, maybe getting a couple of hens for my D'Uccle Roo.
I'd highly recommend the OEGB for a pet. They are hardy, friendly and very small. Just what a pet chicken should be.
