I thought I'd provide an update. This is the oldest cockerel from this year's hatch.
f5 cockerel - 5 1/2 months old.

very nice. wish i was that far along, but we had a raccoon problem in july that set me back a couple months... so now my only 3 self blue chicks, 1 is about 6 weeks, the other 2 about 3 weeks. 2 cockerels and a pullet. we'll see how they develop.

are these blue or self blue. i think im just having wishful thinking that they could be self blue. How does one go about getting self blue.
self blue is a recessive color that requires both parents to carry it.

looks like what you've got is blue, which is a dominant gene requiring only one parent to carry it to pass it along. one copy of the gene results in blue, 2 copies (1 from each parent) will give you splash.

these are self blue chicks.

3 self blues and a black from the same parents, with mille fleur at bottom right and splash EE top left.

I could show you my self blue trio and thier babies but again I can't seem to post photos here, I am at [email protected] though if you want me to email them to you.
