The colors on these birds are some of the best examples of self-blue I have ever seen.

It actually looks like the color lavender, not just silvery-gray. Big time congrats!!

To answer the question on availability. I most likely won't have any to part with until fall of 2011. Assuming that I can get the yellow legs to breed true and cut down on the white in the earlobes. This year's birds will all be Self-Blue split to Black so all 2010 birds will be black. As my intent is to bring these birds to the point that they are ready for a qualifying meet to have the variety recognized by the ABA, it would do no good to distribute birds that don't meet breed standards (i.e. yellow legs, red ear lobes). Until then I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Awesome! I have 2 lav hens and a split black roo right now. I've hatched a few lavenders and a few blacks from them. Plan on using one of the lavender roos when he's old enough... Heres an older pic of mine

We love our little lavender Shadow. She is our only bantam, our only Cochin, and our only lavender.

I have a few lavender and plan to work on them starting in spring. I hatched a few and then bred them and got a couple of lavender birds. I bred the lavender birds and got one more lavender and a black. So now I have two lavender roos, a lavender girl and a black girl. I will be adding to them in spring I hope. What should I look for? It is hard to find lavender, should I get black that have good type and improve them first and then work on color? Or work on color first?

here is a link to a few pics I posted last year. The baby roo is grown now and better color than the original roo. They need work, but I think are a good place to start?
