Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Not sure what happened with the AOV judgeing. My Porcelain had a BV on the card do you think he lumped all the AOV birds into one group, they were at the other end of the row? If that was the case shouldn't he have added the Self Blue & Pearl with them too?

the hubby said he watched them judged and yours, the calico and my rose gray were judged together and gave my rose BV And I'll have to ask if he shook them like maraccas or dropped ashes on them like the others. SAD....

Suze- one rose gray coming up... got photobucket the pic

looks brownish in pic but she rose rose/pink colored in person. she's from my partridge x cuckoo pen. And in good light can see hints of the barring ( not the pencilling in the wings). Just having fun w/ her now and will return to a cuckoo crossed pen next year.

Isn't Calico Splash with red.

calico is three colors and must have clearly white and black on them. Saw only one in my lifetime to honestly fit the name calico and boy was it ever. A dear friend of mine owns him.

So would Rose grey be Grey with red.

in a sense:) I explained her parents above.

Usually they will judge AOVs first by the variety listed, then together for best and reserve AOV.

Your rose grey looks like some of my blue partridge.

Calico is splash with red. This is according to George, who coined the variety name, and so that is what I consider it to be.

Cuckoo X Partridge? I assume daddy was a cuckoo as she is obviously a pullet? I'd love to see a photo that is true to life colour on her. Sounds very pretty.

I think we dropped the ball at the show. We have to usually remind the judge to pick Champion AOV for the club. I think Deb and I were a bit worn down and didn't do a lot other than what we had to. LOL They do take ALL the AOV and lump them and pick from the BV of each variety. Some judges just don't understand silkie folks.

I had never seen that judge before and when he lit up a cigaret I was shocked! You'd think that would be a fire hazard too?

It was really a treat to meet so many in the flesh! Y'all probably know I have it all mixed up again now that I am back and just looking at your ids here. I can say, it won't happen again any time soon. Going in and out of 6 states was a bit much for all of us...birds included!

THANKS go out to all who supported the lavenders...shhhhh self blue, by breeding/showing or just giving us your well wishes as we have worked on this. One more show and hopefully we will have them IN!
