Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

I'd like to chime in here. It seems some people are claiming their silkies are lavender but actually they are splash.

What are the differences besides the obvious intermittent dark spots on a splash? I have one that in a certain light looks lavender, but not 100% sure.

Is it all in the spots....or non-spots that determine splash or lavender?

You have to look at the feather shafts to determine the color. A true Lavender should not have any spots, they should have nice even color.

Isnt the Lavender Shaft light on one side vs the other. And Blue is one color on both sides. Or did I flip them?

Someone posted a pic of it on this thread awhile back there are only 33 pages shouldnt take you to long. Hahaha. I will say it under 20 above 5.

LOL!! I'll go back thru and see.
Another question: So you say the shaft should be a certain way for a lavender, a certain way for a blue, but what about a splash?
Also people often refer to a splash as a "blue splash", would that be an incorrect term?
I'm going out to the coop and check my splash or lavender bird's shaft. That should be pretty easy since she's broody.

Im not sure about splash beacuse I don't have any splash so I don't know what to look for.
I think all splashes are blue so I would feel its common sense that they are blue. So I don't think its incorrect but I think their being too specfic.

This isn't a definitive answer, but a couple of us showed splash Showgirls side by side in a fairly recent show. Mine had a much darker, blueish background, and hers was a nearly white ground. I was told mine is an Andalusian splash and needs to be bred with another Andalusian. Her father, who is also mine, has the darker ground, and I now have a roo with a much lighter, fairly close to white ground. Does that make any sense or help at all?
