Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

I can't help. He almost looks like a reverse splash (not a color) in the first picture and a Self Blue Cream (porcelain) in the second.

Here is my Pretty Boy. I haven't posted a picture of him in several weeks.

His beard is finally getting thicker again. That has taken a LONG time to come back!!!

Oh, and I forgot to mention he is a new Daddy!

Such a cute chick! Looks white!

Hello everyone from Finland.

Can i ask you'r help with my rooster. I bought him week ago and the person who sold me told before we picked him up that he is a blue rooster. Ok, we went to pick him up and for me, he don't seem blue. Maybe light but definetly not solid blue.

He is 1,5 years old in this pic. What is the color?

Here he is sunbathing

Very unusual color. Pretty though. :D

Ok so my first batch of silkies hatch out today from my two newest hens. (My lavender Orp hatched them for me) My roo is a lavender split (blue) and my hens are a black and a splash. 3 of the eggs were from the splash and one from the black.

First to hatch was this one from a splash egg:

Second was this one from the black hen: (Who I believe also has a vaulted skull)

Here are pic of the two side by side so you can see their coloring a little bit better:

And here is the 3rd to hatch from a splash egg:

The second one looks Partridge to me. The first one I'm unsure of because it has that partridge "stripe" down it's back. And the third I'm wondering if it's a splash?? I don't think it's possible to get lavender from a lavender split and unless I bred to another lavender right? So thats why I'm leaning towards splash...

Well it's my roo that is a split, neither hen carries the gene, they are black and a splash. After looking at more pictures online I wondered if it could be a blue seeing as how my roo is a blue split and the splash is a blue splash. Is that a possibility or you can only get blue from two blues?

Hi! I have a silkie chick named smudge who was sold to me as a self blue, smudge is 3 weeks old today and up against my three other self blue chicks (bought from the same place on the same day) smudge is looking pretty white!

Can I have some feed back on opinions of smudges colouring?

Well I ended up with all 4 eggs hatching thanks to my Orp hen! She's a fantastic first time broody mama.

From the four chicks that hatched I'm trying to figure out what colors these two are. I know someone mentioned the one I posted above was a splash which is what I am leaning towards because of the yellow coloring it has in it along with the "bluish" tint. Well the last one to hatch looked just like that one but with no yellow in it. So I'm guessing it's a blue? Here are some pics. If anyone could help me out on their colors it would be greatly appreciated. These are the two I plan to keep and use in my breeding program.

My Catdance chicks are four months old now. They are changing every day. I was lucky with the Self Blues and got one female and one male out of my hatch. The colors are beautiful. They free range with the flock and roll in the dirt and dust and love the compost pile. Even grubby and grumpy at having to sit for photos, their beauty shines through. I enjoy them very much every day.

The little female is a gorgeous self blue all over. She is frightened and flattened herself. The male is a nice compliment to her.

He didn't want to pose either but you can see is coloring.

I'm extremely happy with these two birds.
