Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Brody's Broodello :

Well I showed a few in the spring and only at close by shows so as not to stress them to much for breeding. As far as being rare, I have a bunch of Lavenders & Porcelains. More than I need for my breeding pens. At first I wouldn't sell them because I wanted to make decent breeding pens, but I have them so now will be offering up some this fall. I prefer to hatch them out and let the birds grow a little before selling, that way I can judge the results of my breedings. I also have been able to make a few nice Calico silkies and will be bringing a few out this year.

I will take some of thoughs lavenders off your hands April. Are you going to the York fair by any chance?

Brody's Broodello :

Anyone planning on showing their Lavenders this fall? I may bring out a few later on to some local shows, the heat has just taken the condition out of all the birds. How has everyone made out with the summer heat from

Well I'm planning on showing my two porcelain ullets. I'm trying to decide what shows I can make it to since I'll be going to Costa Rica! Then off to National Poultry and Egg Conference for 4-H! My birds are having a terrible time with this heat and don't even look like silkies right now.

Will you be going to the Ohio Nationals in Nov? I plan to bring a few lavs from Deb to that show. I just hope they get back into show condition by then.

Let me second this question: WHERE IS EVERYONE GETTING THEM??????????

I've been looking and e mailing and searching high and low but can't find any. So if this is a Secret Society with a secret handshake and encrypted passwords.........JUST LET US IN!

Well my society isn't too secret but when you need about 50 good quality birds to show this year to work on standards then you tend to hang on to them until you are real sure you can offer some. I will have cockerels and probably and a few pullets along with straight run chicks BUT I have to get a good fix on Ohio and Shawnee shows. I have saved all my emails and will contact folks in the order of the emails to see who might want some. Showing and standards come first for now. It is still too warm for me to ship but it won't be long. I will continue to hatch lavenders all winter. They are actually my best layers.

Right now, I am so angry and upset I can't see strait.
I'm feeling very irresponsible and guilty as well. I recently introduced the split chicks with my broody into the flock. Everything was going great. While I am home I let my chickens run free range, usually with no problems.
Yesterday was terrible, I got rearended on my way home from work. We had a horrible storm while I was getting my neck checked out at the hospital, it blew over the top half of a huge birch tree in our back yard. I went to check everyone out cause it fell right by the coop. Everyone was good and accounted for..... no damages to the coop. With all the insanity I completely spaced yesterday, and my chickens were left running all day while I was at work today. When I got home today I found that MY DOG ATE ALL MY LAV SPLIT CHICKS!!!!

I feel just horrible! All I can do is be PO'd at myself right now! My stupid dog was just being a stupid dog...... I am just so ARGHHHHH!
