I just candled my eggs from Sonew and 13 have little babies in there!!!! YAY!!! I want them to hatch NOW!!

I went from being soooo happy to so sad. After I candled I went to check on my chicks and the only lav I hav gotten to hatch was dead.

I don't get it they had fresh h20, food, no pasty butt adnd was running around scratching last night. I have never lost a chick before. The little lav would have been a week old tomorrow. What could cause one to die so fast? The temps are good and all the splash babies are fine.

AWWW! Im soo sorry! Im pretty sure it has to do with the lavender color and why they don't hatch often. Thats just my guess.

I don't understand why so many are having problems hatching lav? The most fertile birds I have are the lavenders, and the chicks seem to do fine. It seems like my lavs and my showgirls are more fertile than the other silkies, perhaps due to outcrossings to other breeds being closer in their pedigree adding some vigor?

Even now, when all the birds have extremely fluffy butts due to the show season, the lavender and lavender split eggs are always fertile and hatch for me like popcorn. Is it just shipped eggs or is the problem some people are experiencing with lav related to non-shipped eggs as well?

Hey Angie how are things!!!! thanks I am loving the color of some really rich like the pet quality one I bred into the line in f1 gen. I lost her but here genes prevailed

Things have finally gotten better and I often have to still help a few out of the egg, but all that will change again as I am switching out roos in the pens and that always spells disaster for hatching for a few months.
