I might be a little off topic but since you are waiting for your LAVS to hatch (and I hope they do!) when is the right time to help a chick out of the shell? How long? what if it just pips through and then nothing?

chrisbc33... I always wait to make sure there is no blood in th veins b4 I help them out.
But if I see a pip and no I'm not going to be around to keep a eye on them I always make sure that

Thanks jen, hmmmm, one more silly question. How do you know when that is? As far as the veins go?

I've got one with a whole through right now, just not sure how long to leave it before helping. It's been like that since 11am this morning.

Yea, I've had the "shrinky dink" chicks before and had to soak the membrane off, poor things. Ok, I'll just wait it out.........impatiently.

I've got 29 of my splits in bator

everyone has been getting lavs out and I couldnt stand it anymore-it's my turn for some lavs! just went in about an hour ago!
