Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Found a picture of our gal Sophia!

She is the proud new mama of a chick she sat on and hatched herself... a first for our farm. Our incubators are in the shop!

Hope you cool lavender lovers are having a Happy New Year!

Hatched our first lavender chick today. Yeah!! It was from a lav and blk/split lav pen so I didn't know if it would be black or lav. Looks like we got lucky!!

OK...nevermind. My bad. I checked the chicks shell and it marked with a "B"... not an "L" It's a blue for sure.

My "possible" lav chicks that hatched about that color turned out to be very nice blues. Maybe the pic is dark, though

Can someone explain the results of a black/lav x black/lav breeding would be?

It takes two lavender genes to get lavender but what does lav/black look like? Black?
