Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

I have a lav cockeral and a porc pullet, both getting close to breeding age. I am really new at this, so what would that combo produce? More porcs? Or lavs? Thanks!

Don't think splits are a bad thing, Dawn. They can be very strong and beautiful as I have found.

I've got a BIG black split lav. roo from Darling who has just started crowing (Arrrrrr!) and he is SQ+++ OMG! I know I shouldn't have crowers here, but I can't bring myself to sell him. Not only is he fantastic type, he's sweet and loves to be picked up and held. So, in addition to my over committed, over stressed life.....I bring him in at night, then pick him up and hold him on my lap while having coffee and computer time each morning to keep him from waking the neighbors for 6 blocks in all directions. He still gets off a crow now and then and wakes up my mom too early before my caregiver arrives. I KNEW BETTER than to fall in love with a roo!!!!!!! I sure wish I could find his 'mute' button.

I'll take your roo

Anyone notice that lavender silkie eggs ship poorly? Lately it seems that if I'm receiving a batch of eggs in the mail and any of them are broken it will be the lav eggs! Just my luck!

Adams Tick and Flea spray...works really well. Block/cover their eyes and spray and I rub it around to be sure I get them all. Check the vent too.

Adams works very well. Just make sure and re-treat in about 10 days to get any eggs that hatch too. The spray will kill any live bugs on them right now. If the bird is majorly infested, bringing it for a full bath in flea & tick shampoo might be a good idea. I also like to treat with either ivermectin or a couple drops of frontline for a longer lasting effect too.

Do be careful if you use frontline. It didn't happen to me...I use Ivomectrin, but I have a good friend who had infertile birds for months after over doing the Frontline.
