Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

That could be half of my problem this year.... I've been blaming the weather and fact that I've been using alot of really young birds this year. Temps have been really cold yet and I've trimmed a little but I didn't want to clip vents too bare either. I used Frontline on all my birds late last October. Checked over everything in early February and still not a bug to be found on any of them. I know wild sparrows can get into their pens so the possibility of catching bugs is there. Fertility has been running less than 50% and actual hatch percent is usually 10-15% so far this year.

Adams sprayed too near the vent can impair fertility, too.

Has anyone ever tried using dog/cat flea/tick collars on the birds? I periodically wonder how well they would/wounln't work, and safeth. And of course, how to put htem on a silkie...

Dog/cat flea collars don't work worth a crap on dogs and cats and are a waste of money so I would think it wouldn't work to well on chickens either but that was a good idea..

I personally use Frontline Plus spray on my birds and it works great! Just a little drop/squirt by the vent and then on the back of the neck.
I haven't seen any infertility in my birds when using the Frontline thank god. I also use the Ivermection as well. One drop orally in the mouth.

Anyone notice that lavender silkie eggs ship poorly? Lately it seems that if I'm receiving a batch of eggs in the mail and any of them are broken it will be the lav eggs! Just my luck!

I don't notice them shipping poorly than any other ones but I just can't get them to hatch. They are always quitters. I have spent to much money on lavender eggs and have never had a one to hatch so I'm sticking with lav splits
