Any ideas about this chick? Looks to be to be lavender, but my eye isn't the best sometimes. Could just be a very very light shade of blue, and not genetically lavender.

I think she's self blue, because it's so uniform throughout, no lacing like you'll sometimes see. Super pretty girl. :]

Lavender is a color, not a breed. They are purebred Araucanas, but I already knew that. I just figured this would be the best subforum for the query.

A Roo or Two wasn't sure about the breed, so I just wanted to clarify I was asking about a color, not a breed.

Oh you misunderstood what I put. I am just not familiar with classification of colors on this breed. [IMG]

    Gotcha.

The only colors accepted by the APA for Araucana are black, white, black breasted red, gold duckwing, and silver duckwing. So I already know that the blues I so love are a non standard color.

Turns out there is a possibility the chick is lavender and not just light blue, as the parents are apparently split to lavender. I didn't know this until I asked the breeder.
