Self-sufficient households; help!

Hey Ninjapoodle did ya ever get that fox ya should so many pics of.

I don't think my neighbor would like me peeing on my compost pile seeing as it is the only thing she can see from her house LOL.

"""There is a strong movement among lots of the blogs I read in which people have given up toilet paper. They're using cloth wipes, just like they do with their cloth-diapered babies."""

Ummmm....

Maaaaaaaybe for my dd or myself, but I won't be giving up buying TP for my dh. Uh uh. No way.

HA! And NO, get this--we have not seen hide nor hair of the fox since the day we got the official "de-predation permit" allowing us to dispatch it, from the Game & Fish Commission! Figures, right?

Yeah I'm just not at the place in my life where I can deal with washable wipes. I applaud the ones that doesn't bother for sure! I'll stick to the middle ground and see about making my own wipes.

It took me 8 years to talk mine into allowing the chickens!

The people I saw discussing the whole "cloth wipes" thing all said that they keep TP for guests. I admire their dedication and appreciate what they're doing. Shoot, I can't even seem to get away from paper towels--I probably use the paper towel allotment for 3 people.

The permit gives us a year. Maybe he'll get hungry again this winter, when there are in the neighborhood of 50 nice fat chooks in the backyard, and we'll get a shot at him.

Wow...I think it has taken me an hour to read through this whole post!! I am interested in making my own soap now. One thing we have done with our washer....which you wont want to do until winter....we added a tee piece to the back of our dryer, or you could just detach the hose and add a knee high, so that we can use the air coming out to heat the house. It adds warmth and moisture back into the house on those cold dry winter days. It worked great for us.

I'm going to try it, too. I ordered my Fels Naptha soap and washing soda online, though, because I couldn't find it locally (after searching for over a week.) Should be here any day.
