self sustaining meatie flock?

I'm working on crossing my Wyandottes with my Cornish, but if it doesn't work out due to my Cornish having ascites, then I will replace those with freedom rangers and start that cross instead, probably in the spring. I just have to wait a bit and see how my cornish come out...

I went out there and there are 3 out of 3 doing it. I'm going to reduce their feed even more and see if it helps...

And on the DP thing you can always caponize so that while they take a little longer they don't get too... Roo-ey tasting or tough. Jersey Giants are supposedly the preferred breed for capons, as they get HUGE, but they do take quite a while. Less pressure to slaughter quick, but a long wait for that big ol' bird. Guess it's a toss up.
