Seller on e bay plaguarized listing with my photo - even watermarked!

I wonder how many people enlarged that picture then saw the name and then Google the Farm and bought the eggs thinking that is where they were coming from. I feel sorry for those buyers and if they are upset about the color of eggs or the type of chickens they got they are saying that the eggs were from this farm so bad press for the wrong person. Just makes my blood boil.

Here's a visible watermarked image of mine:

I'm generally of the mind to be really angry, but for some reason I'm feeling sorry for this person, even though they went and did it again.

So judgment can be had, but the person just really needs to be redirected and we ALL need to better protect our pics. I just uploaded dozens of pics last night without watermarks, but didn't post them anywhere yet...but to brighten everyone's day, I'll debut my newest breed to you all!

I'm going to be offering these in May, but I'll let a sneak peak out-

Paint Ameraucana Project!!!

I've been working on these for a few years and have them in with Blehm Black Ameraucanas to further perfect the conformation. It's been a wonderful experience and I'm delighted with the results so far!

Hijack/day brightener finis!

Beautiful pictures...Wow,,,, Can you sneak in some of those eggs next week....I would pass out if I saw a hen like that - no really....

Y'all I'm going to pray on my knees with head bowed and humbled and beg the Lord to use me in a way that is not angry but loving and reflective of His Great Love for us to try and get this person to see the damage she does and change her ways....

What I felt as hurtful I must turn into helpful for the Lord....It's tough to stuff one emotion down but if I can help someone see the "light of the Lord", then all of this is worth this....Thanks for all the pm's and tips on watermarking....I had one wonder person even send me a watermark to use Bless you all...I love you like Sisters and Brothers, such a good group you are and some of the best friends ever! Have a wonderful day I'm out to count baby chicks in the brooder and change shirts....I just held a two week old baby bunnny (I think a boy) and he was soooo excited I am drenched....LOL....One of the real joys of farming!

Just when I thought I was getting adding colors and breeds under control.

Hey Nancy. Maybe you should post your own auction on eBay with those pics. You can explain that they are your own photos and if they are listed elsewhere the seller is using without permission.

oh and mention that you thought buyers should be able to buy the same eggs represented in the photos, so you are offering to this auction for them to see the difference.

This BYCer who purchased the auction... on the Nevada thread? can certainly get their money back from paypal or ebay by using the "not as described" complaint. That would be a slam dunk. Show the pics of the eggs and compare to the listing pic and then, oh, here's the real owner of those eggs and this pic was used without her permission to falsly represent the auction. No problem! Her money would be back in her account in 3 days. And, that is the ONLY way people like that learn their lesson.

A bycer contacted me a few months back about someone using one of my photos and I contacted the person... It was some sort of small hatchery. They were so apologetic and took the photo right down as well as sent me $50 for my inconvenience ... I was like, would you like to use any more photos?

I am certainly not surprised by people stealing photos of eggs/chickens. At least once every year or two, some idiot will use a photograph of an EXTREMELY well-known German Shepherd on the pedigreedatabase, claiming that is the dog for sale or the dam/sire of pups they are selling. In the face of a community of GSD breeders that know many of these dogs at a glance, and people will still try it!

What about when you are putting up a wanted ad on a site like that? Then you arent actually claiming the pic is of your birds, just an example of what you are looking for.

If you ask permission, you will usually get the go ahead to use the photo. Just ask first. Most of the time people want you to note "photo by *name*"
