Hi! My name is Sarah and I raise and show chickens. This year is my first year ordering chickens online from a hatchery, and I have 25 chicks coming in February from Mcmurray. My favorite breeds are silkie, amerucana, Brahma, and polish. I raise chickens because I have shown livestock (sheep, cattle, and pigs) since I was 8 and I wanted something I didn't share with my sisters. I really like showing chickens and I am glad I have joined a forum to help my learning curve with buying chickens from a hatchery.

You’re in for an adventure! I did the same thing this past July! What breed(s) did you order? And what do you raise and show?

I ordered barred rock, wyandotte, delaware, dominque, cochin, australorp, orphington, ancona, amerucana, langshan, and leghorn. I raise and show chickens,

Hello, Sarah, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If you are serious about showing chickens, you might want to investigate purchasing the breed(s) you are most interested in from a local breeder(s) as hatchery stock birds are not bred to the SOP (Standard Of Perfection) and wouldn't do well at poultry shows.
