Selling egg business is kinda slow

I haven't sold eggs but I've run several home businesses (face painting, candles, etc). Farmer's Markets are a great place, sometimes even having to travel an hour away to go to one can still bring lots of profit.
Print up some business cards and leave them everywhere. Look for businesses that allow you to leave business cards or hang up local ads. Use your business card as a coupon, buy 1 dozen get a half dozen free. You mostly need to draw people in, once they taste how superior your eggs are they will be repeat customers. Some friendly service and word of mouth will be your best form of advertising.
Ask local gourmet groceries or health food stores if they will see your eggs on consignment. You can up the charge to $3 a dozen and give the store a dollar of every dozen sold.
Check yahoogroups and see if there are any local groups in your area for vegetarians, cooks, health conscience, animal rights, etc. Joining the group is free and you can advertise your eggs on there.
Make buying the eggs very convenient and people will be more inclined to buy them. Offer a drive up service, they pull in the driveway and beep the horn and you'll bring the eggs out to them. Some people feel strange going up to people's houses to buy things. Or if the beeping gets on your neighbors nerves set up a time you'll be sitting outside ready to sell eggs, like 2-4 every Tuesday or something like that.
Just some suggestions, take them for what they're worth.

Now, I'm guessing that maybe the eggs are fresh but they didn't refrigerate them right away which I've read can accelerate egg aging. Either that, or they are pulling my leg. I had one guy at a stand assure me that his eggs were "all laid yesterday" which I just don't believe, given that most home farmers would probably collect over a week (which is ok by me). Btw, this guy didn't know the difference between eggs labeled "AA" and "A".

Sorry for the rant but I wish I could buy your eggs!

You got lots of good advice on selling your eggs. One thought; is there anything wrong with the taste or quality that would make people not want to keep buying them? You should ask the customers who haven't been buying for their input, if you know how to contact them. You need to know why they would just stop buying, especially if there is some quality issue. Even if Walmart sells eggs that cheap, if you have customers that want farm fresh eggs (especially if they are organic) they will buy from you no matter what the others sell for. Good luck!

I deliver the eggs to most of my customers, it's much easier for them and really makes it easy for me too. Easier than coordinating pickup times/dates for many different people to come here, and much less intrusive. I do the deliveries all at once, every Friday when I usually take my kids into town to the library anyway. Some people will leave a cooler on their front steps with the money inside if they aren't going to be at home when I come by.
