Selling Eggs? Bad day rant..

I had a customer place a large order earlier this year. I could not get ahold of her after that. I left voicemails, emails, but she did not respond. Lo and behold she contacts me again and says life got busy and she wants to order some more chicken. Okay I'm gullible. So then this week she was supposed to show up to pick up her order, guess what? No show. It was a large order. I am a large idiot. I've called/emailed and no response. This happened twice now with the same person. The thing is that she seemed like a really nice person. I have a hard time accepting that people treat others this way.

It was soo hard not to laugh outloud! I explained no the hens will lay without a roo but that the roo was needed to have babies....and when I got outside to my car I did laugh outloud.

I just scrapped one of those brown rooster eggs of my boot. Wish I'd known it was worth something before I left it laying outside the run.
Regarding the O.P., I think people read all of the "grain-fed" labels in the grocery store and assume chickens are herbivores. I've heard more than one person suck air when informed that chickens eat meat, and it's natural (gasp).

That is actually a very common misconception. I hear that ALL the time and from people that seem otherwise very intelligent.

Its just that they know you need a rooster for a hen to have chicks so they assume all eggs are fertilized and a hen doesn't lay otherwise.

At least thats what they tell me after I explain that a hen will lay an egg without a rooster but it won't be fertile.

THANK GOD I have 9 roosters laying right now while my girls are going through their molt or I wouldn't be able to keep up the quota!
