My daughter has someone interested in buying some of the eggs her chickens have started laying. I'm wondering what a fair price would be? I would say the eggs are medium in size. Any thoughts?

I also live in GA. I sell mine mainly to friends and neighbors and let them make the offer. I don't really sell them for the money, I just take what they give. You cold go to the thread titled "Yo Georgians" and ask there, there are probably some folks from your area on that thread. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/yo-georgians.121387/page-4755 You also could go to your local Farmer's Market to see what others are charging.

I'm selling mine for $3 a dozen and I guarantee them to be fresh. My hens are not new layers though and their eggs are jumbo. I mark every carton with the 'layed on' date. Depending on your location, eggs sell as high as $7 a dozen in metro farmers markets. Some folks will pay whatever the cost to eat organic and free range. I couldn't sleep at night though if I were selling mine that high. Best of luck to your daughter. :)

I have found that there is a huge price difference depending on where you are. More than likely your going to be somewhere between $3 - $5 a dozen. You should be able to sell at a higher price than the grocery store. One thing you might do is look on craigslist to see what others are selling for in your area that could help you get a baseline.

I'm not sure what your goals are with selling the eggs, but for me I wanted the income from the egg sales to be enough to cover the cost of feed. So I figured out how much I spent each year in feed, a ruff estimate on egg production and I came out with this. Chicken $5.00 a dozen, Duck $6.50 a dozen or $4.00 for 1/2 dozen. Goose eggs when I have them are $3.00 each egg. Guinea Fowl eggs are $4.00 a dozen. When I first started selling eggs I advertised pretty heavy on craigslist, but I don't need to anymore, as I have built a clientele.

An issue that I started having was egg cartons. I was running out constantly. I started a $0.50 deposit on each egg carton which has worked out well.
