My young flock is laying very well. Our eggs don't stay in the fridge very long. People are lined up to buy them almost as fast as the hens lay them. We have found out that there is a market for farm fresh eggs.

Yes there is. And when eggs get to $8 a dozen because of the bird flu and how many have died, they will be worth gold.

I sell eggs to neighbors and co-worker, there's currently a waiting list because people want to buy them faster than my hens can lay. A dozen eggs at the store is around $4, I sell them for $2.

Really ? Couldn't you get at least the same as at the store? Mine aren't laying yet but I'd sure like to get store prices

A dozen of large eggs -white- are $1.99. So I sell mine for $2 if they have an empty carton. If not it's $2.50 because it costs me $ to buy another carton. Makes them bring me back my empty cartons.

Unless you have 100's of laying hens your not going to make money selling eggs. The only reason I sell them is because if I don't i would just have to throw them out. I cant eat that many. LOL.

Ok, that makes sense. Our eggs are $2 a dozen also , I like your thinking. I'm sure we won't be able to keep up with our 10 layers either , or my husband and I will look like eggs!!!

I eat eggs every kind of way. It's just me now and I can't keep up with them. Have 3 hens in the breeding pens and only 3 in the common area and still cant keep up with only 3.

Have you ever frozen them? I was reading about that.they said for winter months they freeze them in ice cube trays???
