Hello all, I'm glad to join the group! I think I have an unusual situation because I cannot find any discussions, so I'm seeking advice. I have one large hen house containing one Cochin rooster and 8 hens of different breeds. I also have a chicken tractor with one lonely Cochin rooster because both of his hens died unrelated deaths over the past several weeks. I understand that I should not move the lonely rooster to the big coop because there is already a rooster there and that would cause fighting. Should I move 2 hens from the flock of 8 to the chicken tractor with the lonely rooster? If so, which hens should I choose, and how is the best way to make the transfer. Any other suggestions? I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

I would pick two hens that you know are friends with each other and preferably are not two that routinely hang around with your current rooster. That way you aren't taking his favorites and you'll be putting two hens in with the second rooster who already get along so hopefully they'll form a happy little flock.
