I am currently using one of my coops for 2 broody hens away from all the rest of the flock. I have 4 pens altogether that have doors between to easily separate my birds with two coops. I am figuring on using my smaller 2 pens with a coop for my chicks once they are feathered and can stay outside. The birds I have setting eggs in that coop I wanted to let them mother those chicks until they won't tolerate them. The small pens are the closest in the picture. A 12x6 with a 6x6 attached to the coop. The larger one is 14x18 with a 8x8 beside it with a coop attached to both.

I also have eggs in a incubator that should hatch after one hen hatches her eggs and a couple days before the other. I wonder if I can integrate those chicks in with the rest the hens are going to hatch.

My plan is to wait until the young birds are at least 5 or 6 months old before they integrate completely with the rest of the flock. Then I can open the other pens and coop up for all the birds. If I have a good hatch rate I'm going to sell as many chicks as I can because I have 2 hens setting a dozen eggs each and 41 eggs in the incubator. I want no more than another 20 and 1 rooster would be fine.

Looks like a great set up! I'm trying to integrate 10 week old chicks and its going very slowly. Waiting until they are
a little older is a good idea.
